Orbital Insight

Machine learning meets Geospatial Big Data

Leveraging Geospatial Big Data with Artificial Intelligence

As an artificial intelligence expert who previously worked at NASA and Google, James Crawford saw a unique opportunity as satellite technology became more and more advanced.

Plenty of companies were working on the hardware to put cameras in space, but few were developing the software to derive meaning and insight from all the satellite imagery being collected. Crawford founded Orbital Insight to bridge that gap.

Orbital Insight leverages the more than 80 petabytes of imagery in the DigitalGlobe image library to analyze and understand the world at scale.

“Today, Orbital Insight is leveraging DigitalGlobe’s GBDX
platform to understand our planet as never before,
using machine learning to turn high-resolution
satellite imagery into actionable intelligence”

—James Crawford, Founder and CEO
